Exciting news: Christianmomlogic
A few weeks ago I was asked to host a community page for Momlogic, a new mom’s community that was created by Time Warner, Inc. It’s brand new, but is already receiving over a million hits a month and growing.
When I visited Momlogic to check it out, I found a little bit of everything. Sex. Pop culture. Parenting advice. Relationship philosophies. Some of it right in your face, and some of it that I may not see eye to eye with, but it does reflect the views and opinions of millions of women.
That’s exactly where I want to be.
And it’s an honor to be asked to blog for this massive media market as the Christian mom host. If you know me well, you know that I love people, and I love sitting one on one with woman and talking about faith, God, parenting, overcoming, and life in general. (more…)

Very cool blog site
I discovered a new blog today that I love. The author is Anne Jackson, author of Mad Church Disease. I think I liked her immediately just because of the title of her book, but then I read her blog.
Guess what she’s done?
She’s encouraged people to give over $90,000 to change the world. If you ever read my teen blog (Real Teen Faith), you know that this is my heartbeat. Sometimes as believers we point out what we think is wrong with the world, but forget to do something about it, or we wait until we can do something big, forgetting that together we can really make a difference.
Two days ago Anne Jackson asked her readers to give to Compassion Intl’s global food crisis fund. She hoped to raise $400 that day to match a donor’s challenge. So far, over $2,500 has been raised.
I’ve been sitting on a challenge for several days, afraid to ask you or others for help. It seemed too big. It was difficult to ask people to help you in your dream to make a difference. But when I see what one person can do when she teams with her readers, her friends, and strangers who just want to help, it encouraged me.
So, tomorrow we’ll talk. Okay? Cuz I have a dream to place some books in the hands of women who just want a second chance.

time keeps on ticking
I sat on the bed with my daughter. She was in for the weekend to visit a friend. We started talking about when I was a young mother.
“What was it like?” she asked.

Crazy. Chaotic. Tears. Joy. Love. Messy. Poop, lots of poop. Fatigue. (more…)

One of those stupid dreams

I had one of those stupid dreams last night. You know, the ones where you are somehow unprepared. Whether it’s you left your underwear at home, or don’t know the combination of your lock. Except this was a play and I had a part. I was a pirate.
I held my script, but the guy’s scarf kept covering the words. So they gave me a hand-held monitor, but I couldn’t see it because the lighting was dark. So they moved me away from the guy with the scarf and tried something else, except I forgot who I was in the play so I didn’t know where to begin.
This went on for hours, or maybe it was seconds. All I know is that I continued to say things like, “I’m sorry. I really think I can do this. I don’t know why I can’t find the words. I’m usually much better at things like this.” (more…)

Interview: Amy Hammond Hagberg, Part 2

Suzie and Amy Hammond Hagberg continue conversation from yesterday about How Do You Know God is Real?
Suzie: I love stories. Many times I sit in church, and it’s not the sermon or the music that moves me, but what I see happening in the lives of those around me — simply because of a relationship with Christ. What was your most interesting interview, and why?
Amy: Now, THAT is a tough question! I truly enjoyed speaking with all of the participants in my book series for different reasons. Of the athletes, Dwight Howard from the NBA’s Orlando Magic (also on the dream team at the Beijing Olympics) was probably one of my favorites.
First of all, he is an absolutely amazing athlete—he is currently ranked #1 in the league for both rebounds and blocks. (more…)

An Interview w/Amy Hammond Hagberg, Part 1
Amy is an author and host of a radio talk show called God Unplugged. I recently read her new book with the same title in a series titled,“How Do You Know He’s Real?. Amy interviewed musical artists, Olympic athletes, and others who say that knowing Jesus transformed their lives. Thanks for joining me and Amy as we talk about her new book, writing, and living faith in a real world.

Suzie: Hi Amy, thanks for joining me today. Your radio show and your book is called “God Unplugged”. What does that mean to you?
Amy: You know, Suzie, as Christians we too often put God in a box. We have a tendency to keep Him at arms length and only focus on that relationship at church on Sunday mornings. The idea behind “God Unplugged” is to take Christ out from behind the pulpit and to allow Him to be an integral part of every aspect of our lives… because Jesus is not just for Sundays!
That means bringing God to work with us, into the classroom, and into our homes on a full-time basis. If you are having trouble with your family, God wants to be part of that. If you are struggling in school, God wants to walk right beside you there as well. God wants to be there for you in the big things and the small… he’ll help you manage a crisis or addiction, but He’ll also help you find your car keys! (more…)
