b-day and more needles

September 1, 2008 | fitness/health, friendship

UPDATE: Surgery went so well. They got all of the skin cancer on the first scrape, which was about the size of a pencil eraser. Five stitches later along the rim of my lip, and I was good as new! The dermatologist surgeon said it was some of his best work. Today (9/3) I feel good. Stitches come out in ten days! Thank you for the e-mails, prayers, and comments. You are the best!

Today is my birthday so I won’t post much, as I’m savoring the phone calls, the cards, the new purse Richard picked out (with the help of my daughter!). But I’m also enjoying the day today because tomorrow is surgery.

Remember the “needles in the face” post a few weeks back? One of the biopsies came back cancer. It’s slow growing, but it’s on my lip. Pray with me that the surgery will go well, that my smile (which I kind of like) won’t be disfigured, and that things go swimmingly. I’m in good hands, and I’m at peace.

But for today I will celebrate my birthday and enjoy family and friends and yellow chocolate with milk chocolate frosting (thank you, Ryan!).

Love my bloggy, bloggy friends.

Happy Birthday, precious woman. Any chocolate that I eat today will be eaten in your honor! :-)

    I’m praying.

    Rats :-(

I’ll certainly pray for you. I’ll even eat a piece of cake (cheesecake, in my case) for you! Happy birthday!

Suzie, Happy Birthday! Hope you had a wonderful day. I will be praying for you — so sorry to hear about your surgery and the cancer concern. Keep us posted on how things go, okay?

  4. Chatty Kelly says:

Thinking of you Suzie! I’ve had little pieces of me chopped off all over, and it goes easier than you think. Thankfully I’ve always been pre-cancerous, but my dad is a melanoma surviver, which makes me “high-risk.”

Keep us posted on your recovery. And remember, if your smile doesn’t come out just the way you want it, it’s a great excuse to do what the stars do, and have a little filler added. You could have Angelina Jolie lips! (I’m trying to make you laugh, not making light of your situation, but trying to invoke some cheer to your day.) Hope it worked!

I love the idea of the Angelina Jolie lips, Kelly! Maybe they can do some work on this 49-year-old girl while they are poking needles in my face! : )

I hope that all goes well with the surgery. Angelina Jolie lips are much better than a Joker smile. :) But you’re pretty regardless!

  7. Connie says:

    Hey Suz,

Here’s a girl who understands your pain! I’m thankful that all went well and that your smile will be more beautiful than ever because you caught it in time!

Blessings to you and happy belated birthday!

    HUGS!

    Connie
