New friends

November 7, 2008 | Books, Ministry Life

Desiree, Suzie, Serena and ShaRhonda

It all started when a publicist shared a link to a blog that was talking about one of my books. I checked out the blog and tried to leave a comment, but she had it set so that only members of blogger.com could comment. So I gave up.

And then I came back. I really wanted to leave a comment.

So I signed up.

A few hours minutes later (I’m on dialup) I was able to leave a comment. I said, “let me know when you meet next so I can call in and chat with the ladies in your Bible study.” ShaRhonda e-mailed me and we set up a time. At the end of her e-mail she casually mentioned that she was in a place called Broken Arrow, OK.

I laughed out loud. Broken Arrow is about one hour from my front door. I grew up in Tulsa, just minutes from BA.

“How about I just come to the study,” I said.

And yesterday I did just that. I had a chance to speak to all the ladies in the Spa for the Soul outreach, but then to meet with Jennifer, ShaRhonda, Desiree, Serena and a few other beautiful ladies as we talked about parenting, God, pushing past your past, and more.

It was wonderful!

Serena had found the book in her local library and she told her women’s ministry director about it. “Why don’t you lead the study?” Beth said. Serena confesses that she didn’t feel like she could do it, but as I watched her enthusiasm and love for Christ, this woman can DO ANYTHING.

ShaRhonda blogged again today about our new friendship. I discovered that Desiree is MissionChik, a blogger and member over on Christian Momlogic. Serena is a new member of Christian Momlogic.

Did the world just get smaller or what? : )

I love meeting new friends. Yesterday was a privilege for me.

As I travel around the nation, I’d love to connect with your small group, your Sunday school class, your jail ministry, or just hang out and have a cup of hot cocoa.

So today I give a HUGE hello and thanks for being my new friends to the ladies at BattleCreek Baptist church in Broken Arrow, OK! You are amazing.
