A little bird told me…
December 17, 2008 | Just me
When I had what we suspect is a TIA last Sunday night, I needed and wanted prayer. So I sent a quick message to five or six Christian Momlogic friends.
Or so I thought.
I received a phone call a little later from my pastor. “What’s going on?” he asked, concerned.
Another phone call. “OMgoodness, what’s happening, Suz?”
I was puzzled. How did these people know. I asked that question. Someone shared it in choir practice at church, was the answer. But how did she know?
It appears that I hit “send to all” instead of the few I selected. I sent it to 173 women of faith, who got busy.
One member attends my church. She’s the one who asked for prayer.
But that was only the beginning. It hit other groups. Writers’ groups. Prayer circles. Facebook. MySpace.
Oh no, Facebook!
The messages started showing up on my FB wall. “Suzie, did you have a stroke? I heard the news. Message me!”
My family didn’t know yet, except for my sis and mom. They are on Facebook.
I sent out a quick blog explaining that it was minor and I was doing well. Then I got on the phone. Unfortunately not before my brother read it. His fear was tangible on the phone. So was his irritation that the world found out before he did.
I held my heart in my hands and asked for forgiveness, explaining what happened. He was surprised at the outpouring from friends and let me know he loved me, but to never to do that again.
After the dust settled, I realized one thing. In a matter of moments, people began to pray. Their thoughts and concerns and care was powerful, and even if I started an avalanche I didn’t mean to by sending my prayer request, it’s amazing.
Thank you, Lord, today for caring friends and people of faith who aren’t afraid to wrap around you when you are hit out of the blue with something big.
Love you guys. More than you know.
Suzie

Prayer is amazing!
It has helped my family in more than one emergency. One time we were prayed for by people in a church we had only visited once but when the need arose and I requested prayer from the one person I had contact info on the prayers came flying in.
I’m glad to hear that things worked out ok and that you are doing fine. I’m also glad I ran across your blog!
