Teaching again
January 8, 2009 | Ministry Life
I took a three-year break from teaching in my home church. Too many times I was sitting on a plane after a weekend of ministry trying to write a lesson for the next morning. I’m not going to wing it (pun, I know since I was on a plane ♥), and I needed the down time. Sundays at home became a refill station.
But when I found out that the youth pastor wanted me to teach once a month, something stirred. I’ve missed working with teens in a smaller venue. You know, sitting around a table, talking about Jesus and faith, praying one-on-one, sharing the Bible and encouragement with a student.
I still get to hang out with them on the Sundays that I’m there, but once a month I’ll get to teach. A perfect situation.
My favorite resources for teaching are:
- StudyLight (commentaries, several versions of the Bible, etc.)
- David C. Cooks’ Real Life Downloaded (I write once a month for the high school RLD)
What are your favorite teaching or ministry sites, whether for youth or adults?

Skit Guys ROCK!
I’m a Beth Moore fan myself. Co-taught many of her studies over the years and haven’t found anything out there that tops it. So far. But then, I’ve really only been involved in women’s ministry. Homeschooling for so long took me out of the children’s arena for a long time.

I used to teach teens (school and ministry) and loved it, especially jr. high. I’m sure there are way more resources now than I had access to 15 years ago.
