Surprise!

The Mom I Want to Be: Rising Above Your Past to Give Your Kids a Great FutureLast night I talked with Roland, host of TruVue Radio. It was a blast. Right in the middle of the conversation Roland told me he had a surprise for me.

I love surprises!

He said that he had given my book, The Mom I Want to Be, to a friend. And she wanted to ask me a couple of questions.

The next 10 minutes were the biggest blessing I’ve had in a long, long time. Sherma told me that she was one of 13 children and she was resentful of the her childhood, angry with her mom. She told me that reading the book impacted her so much that she had to call her mom and their conversation allowed a fresh start. She said a lot more, but what Sherma didn’t realize is that she was encouraging me in a powerful way.

You see, just that day I asked the question I’ve asked many times: Am I really supposed to be doing this? It’s been nearly 2 years since my last book released. I just completed my taxes and was reminded all over again that ministry is a faith walk financially. Two of many questions I’ve wrestled with over the last several days.

Sherma’s story was straight from Heaven, woman to woman talking about who God is and what he can do, and how he works even when we can’t see the results.

It made me love being a writer and in ministry all over again. Thank you, Sherma.

I hope you’ll tune in tonight at TruVue at 7:00 p.m. CST, 8:00 p.m. EST, or 5:00 p.m. PST to hear the whole interview. I hope you’ll share your stories, your struggles, and your journey of faith.

I appreciate you,

Suzie

Isn’t it great, Suzie, when God gives us encouragement to persevere in our callings right when we need it the most? It doesn’t get much better than hearing that our words have touched or impacted someone’s life, does it?

Blessings to you this Easter weekend!

  2. Kathy says:

I’m glad your question about writing was answered! Your book was great and had a wonderful impact on my healing process. It’s a book I would recommend to anyone dealing with a difficult past, such as ours.
