Note from Suzie: I know how disappointing it might be for some of you who didn’t win. But please don’t let that keep you from this conference if it is something you feel God is calling you to. I understand what it’s like to live on a tight budget. I know what it’s like to desire to travel to a new country on missions, or join a team to serve and not have the funds. And yet I’ve discovered that if I really feel God’s nudge to do something, there is a way.
I’ve held garage sales. One time I held a one-acre garage sale. I contacted people in my church and told them I’d take their unwanted “treasure” off their hands. It was a lot of work, but that helped fund a trip to Brazil where I ministered in the farthest regions of the rain forest on the Amazon.
I’ve cooked. Cookies. Bread. Casseroles. Dinner for a 100 at my church. That helped me travel to Kingston, Jamaica and San Salvador, El Salvador, and it helped Richard go to Bangladesh and Peru and Belize.
I’ve written letters, asking for prayer and support.
I’ve done it all. And I’d do again tomorrow. Sometimes we get to partner with God, and there is a great deal of satisfaction that comes when we see the fruits of that partnership. Don’t let a lack of funds become an automatic “no”. Ask if there are creative ways to turn it into a “yes”!
