Gramma update
May 5, 2010 | Family: Nurturing Family
Ten weeks at the most. That’s when baby Elle will arrive. I wonder what she’ll look like. I wonder if she knows how much I already love her?
Stephen, my SIL, had a birthday and in the theme of Christmas and every other special event since the big news, he’s requested baby stuff for his little girl.
Dad’s a fisherman. He loves fly fishing, and really any kind of fishing will do, so for his birthday Leslie got him Elle a fishing pole and other fishing items for future daddy/daughter fishing trips. I bought a princess tackle box, a Bass pro toddler chair, and some froggie floaties (gotta keep my baby Elle safe!).
This is the picture I received after:
So, we are set for toddler fishing, if that’s something Elle wants to do. I have a feeling, as much as Dad is excited, that Elle will simply want to do anything her daddy wants to do, as long as they have their fun time.
There are a lot of things I love about this, but one is the heart of a daddy who loves his little girl so much that he is already planning special times with her. We are lucky to have Stephen as the father of our grandbaby.
I also love watching my daughter grow into motherhood. It’s a strange, but wonderful sight to see her belly grow, to listen to her questions, and to see that gentle, soft side of her deepen.
Thanks for indulging this gramma-to-be as she waxes on about this special little one. : )

You are going to love every minute of being a grandma! I think I mentioned this before, but there is going to be nothing that can prepare you for or compare to the moment you see your child holding hers! Priceless!
So, what are you going to be called? Grandma? GiGi? MiMi? Nana? Granny?
My little grandgirl will most likely call me Abuela (Spanish for Grandma) when she’s old enough to talk.
Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Enjoy!
May 7th, 2010 at 3:05 pmWhat a stylish Grandma you make! Just like my mom! Love it!
And Mommy to be is absolutely stunning as well… I love baby bellies. I am sad to say that my baby belly days are over now that we have three… I miss feeling life inside of me.
Is it the weirdest thing to feel the baby move inside your daughters stomach and remember back to when she was moving inside of you?
Have fun with your Little Elle when she gets here!
May 7th, 2010 at 9:15 pmSuzie, it’s great to see you excited about your new grandbaby.
May 8th, 2010 at 12:45 pmGrandchildren are so special. I know everyone hears it over and over, how they are so much better than having your own children, and you think, hmmm… I’ve only been a grandmother for a short time to two boys, one is almost 2 years old and the other is only 4 months old, (with another ? due in October). My husband and I have really enjoyed and savored each and every little thing about them. So congratulations to you and be prepared to have the most amazing delightful journey ahead.
