child-like praise
June 15, 2010 | Knowing Christ
I saw the little guy in the aisle next to me on Sunday. He held a child-sized guitar in his hands. His dad held him in front of him, the boy’s feet resting on the pew in front of him. One of dad’s hands was in the air, worshiping. Mom’s head was bowed in prayer. But the little guy strummed as the worship music team sang, mouthing one or two of the words here and there.
Something captured my attention. Not just the sweet image of the little guy,but of what it must mean to God when we worship in child-like faith. We do it with all our heart. We are oblivious to others around us. We simply do it because the music moves us closer to God.
I wanted to take a picture, but I didn’t want to interrupt the service in any way or distract him from what he was doing.
But then the worship pastor stopped the music and called the little guy to the stage. We sang a song in Spanish and English and once again, as if he had done it his whole life, the quiet boy played along with the band.
I pulled out my camera.
Maybe one day we’ll hear him say, “I loved the Lord and music when I was 4,” and the picture will prove it is true.
But for now, I love the image God placed in my heart as the little boy played: that of simple child-like praise and love for a God that is worthy.

That’s quite awe inspiring Suzie. I’ve been working on worshiping and praising God in a more child-like faith. My adultness gets in the way… more than I’d care to count… But, I love when my child enters… praisin God! AMEN!
