Live free: Don’t forget the secrets found in the “secret place”
December 16, 2011 | Faith: Knowing Christ, Feelings: Intentional freedom, Just me
I opened my journal today. The last date was marked November 16th.
Was that possible?
Had I really not taken the time to sit alone with my Heavenly Father for over a month?
The “good girl” in me wanted to not share this. After all, how could I talk about the joy and freedom of knowing God and not be alone with Him? Would you think less of me?
But the reality is in the busyness I placed God last.
I didn’t stop loving Him. I didn’t stop reading about Him. I didn’t stop calling myself His.
But I want so much more than that.
I need His presence. His knowledge. His anointing. All found in the “secret place” shared in Matthew 6:6. A place where the focus shifts from you to Him. I love how this verse is translated in The Message. Listen to Jesus speaking to his disciples.
Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace. Matthew 6:6 (The Message)
So today I wrote a new entry. I dated it 12-16-11. Not as a to-do. Not to check off a list. But because there are secrets that are only found in the secret place.
To live free: Seek the secrets only found in the “secret place”.
Just You and God: Close yourself in for a few moments. Be yourself. Let the weight of the world fall from your shoulders. Sense His grace. His love for you. Listen and respond.
