Pursuing Your Passion
Tomorrow I will speak at a Leadership Conference and I’m pumped! The topic is Pursuing Your Passion: Doing What You Love w/o Thought to Money, Fame, or Kudos!

Passion is a watered-down word that is used to describe everything from realationships to Godiva chocolate to our career choices. It’s a great word, but what does it really mean?
I’m passionate about writing.
Really? That’s awesome. What if I asked you to write a 100,000 word book on the joy of calculus? Is it still true? (more…)

A passion for writing

The discussion on The Writers View this morning is about mid-year goals.
My passion is writing, but right now you might be able to tell that around the Eller house. I do everything but write sometimes. I check the lint in the dryer. I blog (see!). I clean the kitchen. I check the mail obsessively. (more…)

priceless
This is a repost from last year, just about this time. It was my story of a bookstore gone bad, gone good.
Yesterday I set up a bookstore at our community Independence Day celebration. One person picked up The Mom I Want to Be and turned it over, glancing at my pic on the back side.
“Is that you? Are you the author?”
“Yes,” I said, smiling. “But this is the red-faced, sweaty version.”
It was hot. Muggy. Searing sunshine, even under the forest-green canopy.
I have to be honest. I questioned why I had decided to sell books.
At the end of the evening I had only sold 10, netting a profit of about $30-35, minus the cost of the candy, time spent setting up, carrying books and books of boxes, the flowers to put on the table.
Okay, I made zero.

Balancing ministry and life
I leave again on Friday. Something that both excites me, and yet has become a balancing act. I am excited to speak to the teens at Youth Encounter. I’m praying for them, asking God to change lives and to spark fire in the heart of teens wanting to live as followers of Christ.
But I also leave behind my husband–again, and am missing a huge, important day in the life of my nephew, Chad. I contracted this event over a year ago, and my nephew’s news came a few months back. He understands, but that doesn’t make it any easier. (more…)
