I have a dream
Today I’m in North Carolina at She Speaks, training with the Proverbs 31 Ministries team. I’m also hosting Moms Together. And I’m blogging.
Can we say multitasking?
In just 24 hours women from all over the United States will flood the conference. This is a huge leap of faith for many. For most, they’ve had a dream to be in ministry for a long time, and this is a first step toward training and teaching.
What about you? What dream has God whispered in your heart?
There’s timing involved in pursuing a dream. But have you ever let it go by because of you don’t want to suffer a heart attack fear? This past month I’ve been quietly listening to three hundred women on a She Speaks 2011 Facebook group. The mood alternates between excitement and “Oh my Lord, what was I thinking!”
For some, they are looking at other women. They think she’s talented, or she’s savvy, or she’s perfect to do this task. They’re asking: God, did you really choose me to do this? Don’t you see her?
If you’re looking at the woman next to you with six kids who’s blogging with a baby on one hip (and looking fabulous doing it) and a laundry basket in the other, don’t be intimidated.
God made her like that.
He made you to be. . . well, you. (more…)

She Speaks 2011
I’m preparing for one of my favorite conferences. I first attended She Speaks about four years ago. When I walked in the door I knew this was a different type of conference. From the top down it appeared that the heart of this team was to serve.
Two years later I joined the team. I didn’t do this lightly. I wanted to be a part of a ministry or team that genuinely sought the heart of God and encouraged others, rather than an organization that groomed speakers, or showed you how to build a platform, but failed to center on growing as a believer and a disciple of Christ.
I found it. ♥ (more…)

Faith: Loving God More Than Your Dreams
To watch on YouTube
Resource: What Happens When Women Walk in Faith by Lysa TerKeurst
Scriptures: Genesis 12:1-2, 4a; Genesis 12:10; Genesis 15:5-6; Genesis 22:1-2
Study questions:
1. As you read Abram’s story, in what ways does it parallel your own life?
a. Which phase are you in: Faith (leaving); Famine (digging deeper roots); Fellowship (trusting God for encouragement and direction); Faith in God and His dream.
2. Abram built an altar in every phase of his journey. In what ways do you build an “altar” so that no matter where you are, where you’ve been, or where God is leading you, that you stay connected with God?
3. Any questions from this study that you’d like to discuss? Let’s talk!

aha
Today I sat on my couch listening to a very wise young woman. Amazed. Not because I didn’t think she was wise, but because sometimes God speaks very clear through people. And He was speaking loud and clear at that moment.
Through my daughter. (more…)

do the work of the church
I spoke at a conference this past weekend with fireball author and speaker, Thelma Wells. She had just celebrated her 70th birthday.
As she spoke, she said, “I’m 70 so I can say what I want. I want to say that we need to stop just doing church, and instead do the work of the church.”
Yes, and amen, Thelma.
She encouraged me. First, because of her honesty. Second, because she is mentoring young girls in a downtown Texas city, girls who have some pretty incredible strikes against them because of absent daddies and mommas who are struggling with things like addiction or prostitution. She speaks in jails. She speaks in churches. She writes books on topics that hit the heart of women.
And did I mention she was 70? A time when most women have settled WAY down. A time when hurting knees (watching Thelma take stairs told me she struggled with pain) stopped you in your tracks.
She once was a little girl who was stuck in a closet for hours at a time, a little girl who felt unloved, who was scared. And yet decades later this strong woman of faith continues to speak strength, courage and hope into the hearts of girls who need someone to fight for them.
Do the work of the church. Not just church.
Powerful, powerful words that I pray we can all hear and live up to.

What’s happening?
I just arrived home from Atlanta, where I got to hang out with some awesome women at a conference. I made some new friends, and had the privilege of watching God touch the hearts of some of His girls. I love it when that happens! The topic was Spiritual Spa for the Soul, and I shared how God can help us relax in His love, rest spiritually and physically, and be restored by the Master’s touch.
Next weekend, I’ll be in the Fort Worth, Texas area with former Women of Faith speaker Thelma Wells and several other awesome speakers at the Ready to Win conference. If you are in the area, I hope you’ll consider grabbing your best friends and coming to this conference on Saturday, April 2.
Thelma’s heart is to offer a power-packed event at an affordable price, and I believe she’s done just that! I would love to meet you there! My topic is “Dancing Shoes: Turning Your Crossroads Into Turning Points”, sharing how God shows up in the personal crossroads, in the waiting times, and even in the hard times, exploring one truth that will anchor our faith and transform the crossroads into pivotal moments in our lives.
Also, next week I’ll begin a new Bible study. I have loved meeting with many of you each Tuesday. We’ll study What Happens When Women Walk in Faith by Proverbs 31 Ministries, Lysa TerKeurst. Each Tuesday I’ll “meet” with you by video right here and on Live Free Facebook page.
Want to join me? Either hit “like” on the Live Free Facebook page or subscribe to this blog. You can listen to the video at your own pace, share it with a small group, or take it deeper with the study questions posed each week. You can find Lysa’s book here. I plan to give away a copy tomorrow, so I hope I’ll see you again tomorrow.
